Exit 19 Gordano Services. Take 1^st exit (not services) A369. Turn right almost immediately towards Portbury. Follow the road signs for Clapton. (At the first 90 degree bend the road continues round to the left – turn right here –then after 100 yards bear left). This lane is 2 miles long. At the end turn right. Take the first main road on the left – Clevedon Lane. (There are 2 very minor left turnings to ignore).

Then follow instructions for “once in Clevedon Lane.”

From M5 heading North:

Exit 20 Clevedon. Follow the signs for Portishead. At the first roundabout turn right. At the second roundabout (mini) turn left. At the third roundabout (mini) turn right. Follow the road through Walton in Gordano, Weston in Gordano and North Weston until you reach Gordano School, Portishead on the left (after about 4 miles). Turn right down Clapton Lane. After 1 mile you will see a wooden bus shelter. Turn right just after this into Clevedon Lane. Then follow instructions for “once in Clevedon Lane.”

From Bristol via the Cumberland Basin

Follow the B3128 to Clevedon. Straight ahead at traffic lights in Failand. Pass the Failand Inn on the left, past the Downs School on the right, and past Castercrete on the right, past the left hand turn to Wraxall, turn right after a further 500 yards into White House Lane towards Clapton and Portishead. (Beware of traffic on the main road coming round the bend quickly). This road takes you over the M5. Take the first main road on the left – Clevedon Lane. (There are 2 minor left turns to ignore).

Then follow the instructions for “once in Clevedon Lane”.

From Bristol via the Clifton Suspension Bridge

Turn right at the traffic lights at the end of the road after crossing the bridge. At the next traffic lights turn left into Beggar Bush Lane – past Country Club/Hotel on left. At the next traffic lights turn right. Pass the Failand Inn on the left, past the Downs School on the right, and past Castercrete on the right, past the left hand turn to Wraxall, turn right after a further 500 yards into White House Lane towards Clapton and Portishead. Once in Clevedon Lane

Drive up as far as the Black Horse pub, turn left up Wood Lane, and park there. Please do not park in the pub car park. The pub can often be busy, so you may have to park a fair way up Wood Lane – there is loads of space further up (after the road narrows it widens again). Yew Tree Cottage is on the other side of the road to the Black Horse and is the third house from the corner of Wood Lane going towards Clevedon, so if you walk back down Wood Lane and turn left at the end, it is the third house along on your left. It has a post box in the garden wall.
