Jill plays violin and sings and calls for dances, and Mark plays button accordion, guitar and also sings. The extensive repertoire covers a wide range of musical genres with the main focus on traditional dance music and song of England and Ireland. ...... from pre-school childrens' entertainment, primary school age festivals, junior and secondary school educational days, barn dances or music and song for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, coffee, lunch and evening clubs, to entertaining people in retirement homes, pub evenings, music festivals and folk clubs....... (etc!!) |

and Mark offer barn dances as a duo. Mark's dynamic accordion playing
provides a full sound perfect for dancing, whilst Jill is an extremely
proficient and entertaining caller, joining in on fiddle once the dance is under
way. The combination is ideally suited for the smaller venue or where cost
is a consideration.
Additional musicians can be invited if a larger band is desirable - Jill has played and called with The Old Fox Band over the last 12 years and Mark has been in the Bees Knees Band for 15 years. Jill and Mark also run a monthly barn dance for Portishead Ceilidh Club at Gordano School the first Thursday of every month - just turn up and pay on the door. Highly Strung - for Community Events
Ideal for local community events - a group of local traditional music enthusiasts playing a variety of instruments to guarantee foot tapping and jigging at your event! The group is comprised of members of the Highly Strung Music Club that meets weekly in Clapton in Gordano.
Events in 2011 include Marlens Festival in Clevedon, Avonmouth Party in the Park, Music for Memories at the Tithe Barn in Nailsea, Portishead Victorian Evening, It's Your Ceilidh
